a bib for all seasons

bib. el babero. bavaglino. bavoir. latz

Whatever you call it, they exist in all languages and they're a universal baby gift.
In English, the word 'bib' dates back to 1580, with the word having Latin origins from the word bibere, because it soaked up spills, so it looks like a bib has been the number one baby gift for a while now :)

They're great because they can be worn over clothes, so go with a multitude of outfits, and make even the plainest baby grow more exciting. They're practical and useful. They don't break the bank.
It's the thoughtful present that doesn't require much thought at all!

Here at Carry Me Home we sell a nice variety of bibs, from the big, bright, colourful beauty and the bib strawberry, apple and cupcake, to the Carry Me Home favourites, the 'I Love Chocolate, So Does My Mum' and the classic 'Oops' bibs.

We think the loveliness of our bibs speak for themselves. Look at how perfect the pink cupcake bib goes with the cupcake Happy Accidents dress, a match made in heaven!

The chocolate bib is a firm favourite, there are a lot of mums out there who love chocolate (we can think of a few!) and, when they're personalised, they become even more special gifts.

So pop on a bib and get munching, slurping, stuffing your face full of goodies, because it really is the baby gift that has everything!

Boys Gifts

If you're anything like us, Christmas lists just keep on getting longer and even more daunting. Where to start?!

To make things a little easier we thought we'd show you some things that we think would make perfect gifts on Christmas day. This time we're focussing on pressies for the little men in your lives. As usual, they're available in our lovely Knigly Court shop or (mostly) online.

And never fear, we'll be covering gifts for girls next week :)
Toys, breakfast sets, booties, bibs: gifts that'll last for ages and be well loved!

A nice smart outfit for Christmas Day! As you can see above, it's so simple to look stylish in a bow tie bib, a tuxedo baby grow or a braces t-shirt. Effortless!

Pictured above we have a range of clothing perfect for this wintery weather.

Power of Making

Last week I went to the Victoria & Albert Museum in South Kensington to see the (free!) exhibition 'Power of Making'. I'd really recommend it to anyone who is interested in how things are made and the skills that are involved in making. It's amazing to see the methods of production and labours of love that are required to craft some of the weird and wonderful creations! The V&A themselves describe the exhibition as a celebration of '...the role of making in our lives...an eclectic collection of over 100 exquisitely crafted objects, ranging from a life-size crochet bear to a ceramic eye-patch...'

This of course reminded me of all the lovely made objects in the shop. There are our babygrows, t-shirts and bibs which we lovingly create right here in Kingly Court, London. And who could forget our incredibly popular Carry Me Home bears? They are unique to us, beautifully made and make the best presents ever!

Not only do we make wonderful products, but we find other people who are excellent makers and crafters and sell their lovely wares online and in the shop. It's hard to say no to a My Happy Accident or Minimod toy or dress knowing the care and skill that goes into making them.

In fact, why go to the exhibition at all? The power of making can be found at Carry Me Home!

London Calling

We've just received a brand new delivery of our best-selling telephone box and red bus lights, available again instore and on the website. Which got me thinking...

Lots of our products are made in the U.K and of course we design our own babygrows, bibs, hats and t-shirts right here in the shop, just off Carnaby Street. Carnaby Street itself is an iconic London destination, full of cool swinging sixties mod history. It's a pretty great place to be, there's always something going on (I walked out to get some lunch on Saturday to be met with a Zombie march!?) we're never bored!

Whether you're a day-tripper, a holiday maker or a born and bred Londoner, there's still nothing quite as cool for babies as rocking out London style with a rockbaby babygrow and union jack trousers, illuminated by some phone box lights!!

Carry Me...to the Market!

Carry Me Home is not only an amazing baby boutique! Many moons ago, long before we opened our lovely little shop in Kingly Court, Carry Me Home was born in London's Old Spitalfields Market. From our stall we sold all of our lovely babygrows, bibs and hats. And the best bit is...we still do! Every Sunday we have our busy stall, selling all of our most popular designs (Rock Baby, I Love Chocolate and Strawberry bibs are all best sellers). The market makes for an excellent day out, bringing together all of London's best up and coming new designers and surrounded by lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and bars (we all know how exhausting shopping can be). It's located in the heart of trendy East London, and easy to get to thanks to close proximity to Liverpool Street station. Find us every week opposite the pizza restaurant 'Fire and Stone'. So, if you're in the area come and say hello!

And if not there's also the shop and the website, facebook, twitter and the blog... so much choice!

Custest Mothers day present ever!

The perfect gift for any new mum on Mothers day! Gayle's made these super cute 'I love my mum' bibs especially for tomorrow - we have them in the shop and they will also be at our stall in Spital fields market tomorrow. Of course they come in blue too! I'm sure they would be appreciated even more if mums were woken up with breakfast in bed and flowers! Our Boo Boo products make lovely gifts all year round, but would be perfect if your out of ideas for tomorrow. Pop into the shop or say hello at Spital fields tomorrow if you want a chance to get one of these lovely bibs for Mothers day!

We got these bibs in recently, but you better hurry if you want one - they're selling like hot cakes! Not only do they look really cool, they are very practical too - wipe clean, and an adjustable velcro fastening. And even better - they're made in England too! Available online and in store - but hurry!

Been Inside for 9 months

Here's a picture of my favourite new cousin i told you about last week. How cute does he look in his 'Been Inside' grow? As you can imagine i spoilt him rotten with all my favourite Carry Me Home products, including this! Its one of our best sellers... so much that we have actually sold out at the moment, so keep checking the website and the blog to see when we get them back in stock. I also got him an 'It started with a kiss' baby grow, which is my absolute favourite! Of course i got him an 'Oops' bib, and got Gayle to make an extra special personalised baby grow for him too. If you would like something personalised please get in touch! Check the website for lots of lovely gifts if you've got someone to buy a special present for.

Meet Karina, Douglas and Betty!

I'm sure some of you will be familiar with these characters, but for those of you who aren't, meet Karina the Kitten, Douglas the Dog and Betty the Bunny. These are our latest items from Olive and Moss, which arrived during the week. Love the colours on the Betty the Bunny baby grow, and look at Karina the Kittens rosy little cheeks!
